The Mobile Science Laboratory is, in short, a “simple, cost effective way to address massive inequalities in our government schools.”
Rhona Duncan (Project Leader 2002 - 2007)

The Mobile Science Laboratory is a private initiative. It is funded by the donor and private sector and is run as a Rhodes University outreach project. It services previously disadvantaged high schools and middle schools in Grahamstown by delivering equipment and expertise which enables the school to provide hands on practical experiences for Grade 12, 11, 10, 9  and 8 learners. This model is the first of it’s kind in the country. This website is intended to provide insight into the establishment of this unit, how it operates successfully and the impact such a unit can have in a community. We hope that through sharing this information more such projects will be initiated around the country.

From those who are simply wishing to find out more about who we are to those interested in setting up their own, similar projects, we hope that you find this website informative, interesting and easy to navigate.

Hands on practical
